Helping Manurewa Thrive – Every Click Counts. Snap It Map It is a campaign to understand what makes a place feel safe and your help is needed. Upload your photos for the chance to be featured in an exhibition and win fabulous prizes!

          Terms & Conditions

          Eligibility

          • The competition is open to people with a direct connection to the Manurewa Local Board area.
          • Entrants must be 16+ years of age.

          2. Competition Period

          • Opening Date: 1 March 2026
          • Closing Date: 24 May 2026
          • Winners Announced: 29 June 2026
          • Late entries will not be accepted.

          3. Categories & Themes

          • Theme: Competition entries must provide a visual illustration of what the makes the photographer feel safe or unsafe when living, working or visiting the Manurewa Local Board area.
          • Categories:
            1. Feeling Safe - Single Image
            2. Feeling Safe - Photo Documentary – 3- 5 Images
            3. Feeling Unsafe - Single Image
            4. Feeling Unsafe - Photo Documentary – 3- 5 Images

          4. Submission Guidelines

          • Entry Fee: Free.
          • Limit: Each entrant may submit to one (1) or more categories, however, only one (1) entry per entrant per category is permitted.
          • Method: Entries must be submitted via this form.
          • File Format: Images must be submitted as [JPEG/PNG] files.
          • Resolution: Minimum of [2000] pixels on the long edge.
          • Naming Convention: Files must be named: Category_Surname_Firstname_Title.jpg.
          • Watermarks: Images with visible watermarks, signatures or borders will be disqualified.

          5. Image Specifications & Editing

          • Originality: All images must be the original work of the entrant.
          • Location:  All images must be taken in a location within the Manurewa Local Board boundaries.
          • Date Taken: Photos must be taken within the Competition timeframe (1 March 2026 to 24 May 2026)
          • Allowed Editing: Basic adjustments (exposure, contrast, cropping, sharpening, colour correction) are permitted.
          • Prohibited Editing: Removing or adding elements (compositing), heavy manipulation that distorts reality, and AI-generated imagery are strictly prohibited.
          • AI Policy: The use of Generative AI to create or significantly alter the image (including "generative fill") is not permitted. Finalists may be asked to provide the original RAW file or metadata to verify authenticity.

          6. Copyright & Usage Rights

          • Copyright: The photographer retains full copyright and ownership of all submitted images.
          • Usage Rights: By entering, the photographer grants Apopo Studios Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license in perpetuity to reproduce, publish and display submitted images in any media, including print and digital formats, for publications directly related to the competition (e.g., website, social media, exhibition, press releases.
          • Credits: The organiser will make every effort to credit the photographer whenever the image is used.

          7. Ethics & Releases

          • Model Releases: If the photograph features recognisable individuals, the entrant must be able to provide a signed model release form upon request.
          • Animal Welfare: Images depicting the harassment or mistreatment of livestock, pets or wildlife are strictly prohibited.
          • Objectionable Content: The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry that contains offensive, violent or illegal content.

          8. Judging & Prizes

          • Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged on technical skill, creativity, composition and adherence to the theme.
          • Decisions: The judges’ decision is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the results.
          • Prizes:

          • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

          9. Liability

          • Apopo Studios Ltd or the organiser are not responsible for lost, damaged, or corrupted entries due to technical issues.
          • By entering, the entrant indemnifies Apopo Studios Ltd and the organiser against any claims regarding copyright infringement or violation of privacy rights.

          10. Competition Organiser and Contact Details

          • The Snap It. Map It photo competition is being organised by Local Works Ltd on behalf of the Manurewa Local Board.
          • All correspondence and enquiries relating the Competition and wider Snap It. Map It safety campaign must be emailed to Ian Leader at ian@localworks.nz in the first instance.
